Eating pizza is always guaranteed to put a smile on your face. There’s just something about eating melted cheese with dollops of tomato sauce and delicious toppings that makes us weak at the knee. So when we were given the task of searching for Brisbane’s best pizza, we knew it would be no easy task. So after many filled cheese and carb filled moments, we’ve narrowed it down to our top 5 favourite pizza joints in Brisbane. Drum roll, please.

Alfredo’s Pizzeria | 39 Alfred St, Fortitude Valley

Located next door to the popular Alfred and Constance and Alfredo’s Pizza is an Italian restaurant and bar make no mistake this pizza joint is a destination worth travelling to just on it’s own. Serving pizza slices well into the late hours of the night, Alfredo’s casual style dining makes it a favourite for those that want a no fuss, no frills dinner without compromising on the flavour. There’s a daily rotation of eight different pizzas  fresh from the wood-fired oven with 16 beers on tap, plus plenty of cocktails and wines. 

Tartufo | Emporium Hotel

With a classic Italian menu, Tartufo brings a little slice of Naples to Brisbane. Located smack bang in middle of the Valley, chef and owner Tony Percuoco has imported everything in his restaurant from Naples. From the red mosaic wood-fire oven and ingredients used to cook, to the two chefs who throw together some of the best pizzas in Brisbane. You’ll find all the traditional. Napolitan pizzas here.

Tinderbox | 7/31 James St, Fortitude Valley

Down in the valley, Tinderbox serves pizza all day from Wednesday to Friday, with a full bar and bites menu operating all day on weekends! All their wood-fired oven pizzas are prepared from scratch and come with a menu filled with well crafted beers, an eclectic wine list and irresistible cocktails. There’s no pretension here, instead expect a casual, relaxed vibe and a sure bet for all pizza lovers.

Mister Paganini  172 Grey St, South Brisbane . 11am

A little cheeky and a whole lot of fun, Mister Paganini is headed up by pizza maestro, moustache loving You Tube star Youssef Ben Touati. It’s all about great service, funky fresh interiors and of course authentic pizzas. The focus here is on seasonal produce, so expect a less is more approach with a full range of Italian wine, beer and a plenty of Negroni and Spritzes.

 

Julius Pizzeria | 77 Grey Street, South Brisbane

As the little sibling venue to Teneriffe’s Beccofino, Julius Pizzeria serves up a similar menu to it’s flagship in a chic warehouse space, Julius Pizzaeria cook their pizzas in a custom-built Stefano Ferrara oven all the way  from Naples and their pizzas are are much like Beccofino with all the flavours Brisbanites have come to love. To accompany their pizza menu, there’s also a pizza and antipasti mneu plus an extensive Aperol-lined bar where you can graze on some snacks  or simply sip on an Aperol Spritz or three.

Doughnut Time | Various locations around Brisbane

You’ll feel like you’ve died and gone to doughnut heaven at Doughnut Time. This cult doughnut shop regularly change their flavours, and their always pun-tastic. Choose from classics such as the glazed doughnuts or salted caramel, or opt for some more fun flavours like the Bling Ring (lemon sherbet glaze topped with vanilla meringue and rainbow sprinkles) or  Build Me Up Buttercup (chocolate glaze topped with peanut butter and Reese’s peanut butter cups). If you can’t make it to any of their bricks and mortar locations around town, keep your eye out for the Doughnut Time van on the streets of Brisbane.

Gramercy Coffee | Wintergarden, 200 Edward St

Boasting some of the best doughnuts in town, Gramercy Coffee first  launched their doughnut pop-up last September. Today you’ll find the likes of Boston cremes and espresso custard sitting on the shelf next to chocolate cake and blueberry jelly balls of goodness. Tucked away from the madness of the bustling streets of Brisbane, you’ll find Gramercy Coffee and their lines for doughnuts in the Wintergarden.

The Doughnut Bar |  288 Edward St, Brisbane

The Doughnut Bar is Australia’s first food truck dedicated to the glorious doughnuts and is brought to you by the same people that started Brisbane’s cronut invasion. Praise the heavens for answering our prayers! Expect artisan doughnuts that are extremely droolworthy and instagram friendly, with flavours like Gaytime, Nutella cheesecake and fancier flavours including Netflix and Chill and Tim Tam Slam. If you’re feeling extra indulgent, you will want to try the doughnut-topped milkshake! It’s like a doughnut drink fantasy come true.

Donut Boyz | Cnr Mollison & Boundary Street, West End

This hole in the wall cafe sells glazed and filled handmade doughnuts, and strives to put the magic back into a childhood favourite treat. They make all their the doughnuts from scratch and all the ingredients are fresh, and the flavours are oh so, decadent. We recommend the injectable doughnuts where you can pump your  custard into your sweet dough ball.

NoDo Doughnuts | 1 Ella Street Newstead

If you’re gluten intorelant, we know it’s unfair to live in a doughnut free world and that’s why we recommend NoDo Doughnuts.  Started up by graphic designer, turned baker,  Kate Williams and the folks behind this sweet tooth haven use all  organic ingredients free from artificial colours and bake their creations with  free-range eggs and top it with  fresh fruits. With flavours like Banana Bread Donut with maple cream cheese, and Valrhona Chocolate & Beetroot Donuts, being a glutard has never been so easy.

Get ready to indulge in the best gourmet food and wines Brisbane has to offer. This July, Queensland’s biggest annual food and wine festival, Regional Flavours, returns to South Bank for one epic weekend of cheap eats, live music, producer stall market, food trucks and free entertainment from celebrity chefs. Highlights this year include shows from Maggie Beer, Masterchef judges Gary Mehigan, George Calombaris and Matt Preston, master patissier Adriano Zumbo, plus nutritionist and author Lola Berry.

Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner?

Find out where it all started, hear about their experiences on The Voice Australia, where they both became household names under the mentorship of Ricky Martin, how their careers have taken off in the performing arts and what it takes to make it in the super-competitive entertainment industry.

Your night begins with a complimentary drink on arrival and continues with a beautifully crafted menu by the hotel’s new Executive Chef, Zac Ruston as follows:

• Sourdough rolls with pink salt butter
• Entrée: Smoked tomato nage with Tuscan cabbage pesto
• Main: Free range chicken breast with hazelnut stuffing, crushed herb potato, snow pea confit and butternut crème

Finish with a sweet selection of chocolates for desert. Vegetarian options are available, but must be requested in advance.
